carved to the domed cover in cinnabar lacquer with a
wrapped flute and castanets amongst ruyi-shaped cloud
swirls enclosed within a peach-shaped panel with scrolling
clouds, all against a diaper ground in yellow lacquer, the box
similarly carved with diaper ground with a key-fret border at
the foot, the interior and base lacquered black
