A BLUE AND WHITE ‘PHOENIX MEDALLION’

QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD
of ovoid form painted with three medallions, framed by
brackets of stylised cloud scrolls, each roundel composed of
a phoenix in flight amidst smaller clouds, all between cloud
scrolls and Bajixiang emblems encircling the shoulder and
lower body, a further band of cloud scrolls below the rim, the
base with a leaf within a double circle in underglaze blue
