Loretta Hines Howard was the daughter of
Chicago lumber tycoon Edward Hines. An
artist who was a student of the Ashcan School
of Robert Henri, she was also known for her
collection of creche statuettes, some of which
were donated to the Metropolitan Museum of
Art, New York.
