A RARE BLACKISH-BROWN
GLAZED EWER
LIAO-NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY
(AD 907-1127)
The ewer has an ovoid body, double-strap handle
with lobed terminal, and a pronounced ridge at the
base of the waisted neck, and is covered overall
with a lustrous glaze of dark blackish-brown color
that thins to russet on the raised areas and ends in
a line on the foot exposing the fne pale grey ware.
