PROVENANCE
Chung-kit Fok Collection, Hong Kong.
The use of the phrase fo ri chang ming is particularly well-suited to the strong
Buddhist iconography, such as the lotus and vajras, that decorate these
bowls.
A pair of Jiaqing-marked bowls of the same size and design is illustrated in
Selected Ceramics from the Collection of Mr. & Mrs. J. M. Hu, Shanghai, 1989,
p. 120, no. 83. Another pair with similar decoration and of the same size, but
with Daoguang marks, was sold at Christie’s London, 13 May 2014, lot 306.
