            A RARE FAMILLE ROSE ‘LOTUS PETAL’ VASE
            DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE
            AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
            The vase is constructed in two sections and can also serve as a box and cover.
            The exterior of the body and neck of the upper section is decorated with six
            rows of overlapping lotus petals fnely enameled in graduated tones of pink
            that stop at a narrow yellow and red dotted band below the rim. The top is
            enameled in green and pierced with fve small openings to imitate a lotus seed
            pod. The bowl-shaped lower section is similarly decorated on the exterior and
            has a central divider in the interior.
