A FAMILLE ROSE-ENAMELED BLUE AND WHITE BOWL
GUANGXU SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1875-1908)
With rounded sides that fare slightly at the rim, the bowl is decorated on the exterior with a continuous
band of fowering lotus plants rising from a border of cresting waves above the foot, which is encircled by
a narrow key-fret band. The interior is decorated in underglaze blue with a central medallion containing
a lotus fower from which issue four large lotus leaves below a wide band of lotus scroll bearing similar
leaves in the well.
