A LARGE BLUE AND WHITE DISH
MING DYNASTY, LATE 16TH CENTURY
The dish has rounded sides and an inverted rim, and is decorated in the center with two pairs of Buddhist
lions playing with ribboned brocade balls encircled by a band of ruyi-heads. The mouth rim is decorated
with birds in fight amidst foral and fruit sprays. The exterior is further decorated with birds perched on
branches.
