COLLECTION OF EDITH DESALEUX (1918-2019)
Edith Desaleux (1918-2019) 夫人舊藏

Edith Desaleux worked as a teacher at the Alliance française and
lived in Shanghai in the 1940-50s. She was highly active in the
cultural and art sphere between France and China and organized
numerous international art exhibitions for important Chinese modern
artists such as Lin Fengmian and Zao Wou-Ki. During her life, Lin
Fengmian gifted her several paintings including the present lot as
the evidence of their solid friendship. From among her collection of
Lin Fengmian paintings, she donated the iconic “Pietà” to the Musée
Cernuschi, Paris, and is now part of their fagship collection of the
museum.

Edith Desaleux (1918-2019)于1940-50s年间在上海的法语联盟
学校任教，她曾高度活跃于中法两国之间的文化和艺术领
域，并为重要的中国当代艺术家，如林风眠、赵无极等组织
过一系列世界范围内的展览。有生之年，林风眠曾赠予她一
