A QINGBAI CARVED PETAL-LOBED BOWL
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1127-1279)
The bowl has slightly rounded, fared sides
that rise to the slightly everted rim, and is
carved in the interior with two boys amidst
leafy peony scroll, and is covered overall
with a glaze of pale blue color that continues
over the tapered foot ring and ends in a circle
around the unglazed center of the base burnt
pale brown in the fring.

A QINGBAI OCTALOBED TWO-TIERED
BOX
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1127-1279)
The slightly domed cover is slip-decorated
with eight conjoined cash flled with
stippling that surround a similar center, the
design conforming to the lobed shape of the
deep sides. The sides of the middle section
and the lower section are conformingly
lobed, and the exteriors of all are covered
with a pale blue glaze that leaves the rims
unglazed. The interiors are partially covered
with a thin wash of glaze.
