meander and ftted with a carved lacquer panel painted and carved with a
continuous scene of ladies and scholars in a terraced lakeside pavilion.

AN UNUSUAL ORANGE AND RED-LACQUERED SOFTWOOD
CORNER-LEG STOOL
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

The top of octagonal form decorated in orange and red lacquer in
imitation of bamboo nodes, above a narrow reticulated waist and aprons
carved with ruyi heads and openwork, the curved legs set into the base
stretcher of conforming shape.
