14 A SILVER ARTICULATED SCULPTURE OF A
DRAGON
MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY)
The silver dragon constructed of numerous
hammered plated jointed inside the body; the
mouth opens, limbs and claws move, the body
bends, the head applied with elaborate horns,
spines and whiskers, the tail of the dragon
entwining a kurikaraken (double edge sword),
the eyes of shakudo embellished with gilt, the
flames in gold
