By a member of the Kajikawa family,
Edo period (1615-1868)
or Meiji era (1868-1912), mid-19th century
The vertical rounded rectangular body
decorated in gold and coloured takamaki-e
with a continuous design depicting a gathering
of the Rokkasen (Six Immortal Poets), Ono no
Komachi, Henjo Sojo and Fumiya no Yasuhide
on one side and Ariwara no Narihira, Otomo no
Kuronushi and Kisen Hoshi on the other, the
base signed Kajikawa saku with a red-lacquer
pot-shaped seal; with a glass bead ojime.
