THREE HIGO IRON TSUBA TWO TSUBA, AN OJIME AND
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th century AN INLAID IRON BOX AND COVER
The first by a mamber of the Nishigaki family, Edo period (1615-1868) or
pierced in the form of a crane flying over Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
pine trees within an irregular rim, unsigned, The iron box worked in enamel, silver and
7.3cm (2 7/8in); the second of Hayashi type, gilt high relief with a cat beneath trailing
pierced within the half-pipe rim with paulownia wisteria eyeing a mantis, signed with chiselled
leaves, unsigned, 7.9cm (3 1/8in); the third signature Masaaki with a seal, 3.7cm x 6.1cm
attributed to Jingo III, of oval form, carved on (1 3/8in x 2 3/8in); the first tsuba of brass,
the hammered ground with foliage above an inlaid with a large beetle, a spider in its web
udenuki-ana, unsigned, 8.5cm (3 3/8in); and a mantis, signed and dated Masatsugu,
each with a wood storage box. (6). mizuno-e saru natsubi sei with seal Ooka,
