Each cover is decorated on top with a stylised phoenix amidst 雷金納德暨莉娜．帕默伉儷珍藏，編號 (X)95
leafy peonies, all enclosed by an outer band of scrolling peony
blossoms, each box is further decorated on the sides with
similar peony scrolls. The interiors of both boxes and covers
are decorated with two archaistic phoenixes surrounding
a shou (longevity) character. The bases are incised with
apocryphal four-character marks reading Jingtai nian zhi.
