The Marie Theresa L. Virata (1923-2015) Collection.
The present table has been cleverly carved at each corner in imitation
of a metal mount commonly found on furniture from this period. While
rare, such playful fourishes are known – see, for example, an 18th century
marble-inset huanghuali square table sold at Christie’s New York,
17 September 2015, lot 2043.
