          PINGTOU’AN
          17TH CENTURY
          The two-panel top is set in a molded rectangular ular
          frame above plain aprons and spandrels. The
          whole is raised on slightly splayed legs of round nd
          section, which are joined by pairs of stretchers.rs.

          The spare, economical lines of this design make make
          it one of the classic forms of Chinese furniture. re.
          The basic proportions were adapted to make e
          large painting tables, smaller tables, benches and s and
          stools. This form is referred to in the Classic of Lu of Lu
          Ban as a ‘character one’ table due to its similarity larity
          in profle to the single horizontal stroke of the e
          Chinese character for ‘one’.
