A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDAI
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The smiling, corpulent fgure is seated in
rajalalilasana on a double-lotus base holding a sack
in his left hand and prayer beads in his right. He
is dressed in fowing robes with the left shoulder
exposed, and wears an openwork crown.

A nearly identical fgure, but with very little
gilding remaining, was sold at Christie’s New
York, 15-16 March 2015, lot 3201.
