A GILT-BRONZE STANDING FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA
18TH CENTURY
The fgure is shown standing on a circular lotus base with hands holding the coiled ends of the lotus stems
that rise to the shoulders, and is wearing beaded jewelry inlaid with ‘jewels’ in the necklace and on top of the
feet. The elongated face has a pointed chin and benign expression, and the hair is drawn up into a tall topknot
behind the ribbon-hung, fve-pointed crown. The copper base plate is inscribed with a double vajra symbol.
