The jade Ming Dynasty and later, the silver late
Qing Dynasty
The even, pale green stone carved in
reticulation with two Mandarin ducks amongst
lotus, mounted to a circular hand-mirror
decorated with bats and Buddhist symbols,
further inset with tourmaline, jadeite or green
quartz and possibly a sapphire, with a white
jade ‘dragon’ belt-hook mounted as a handle.

The disc formed as a coiled winged dragon
biting its own tail, with three claws and
pointed spines to the edge, the stone of a
mottled caramel brown hue with degraded
patches, box with ivory catches. 12cm (4
