1333 Nils Nessim learnt about Oriental carpets from his extremely
LENG MEI (ACTIVE 1691-1742) knowledgeable father, Jean Benschoam Nessim, who had emigrated
Judging the Horse from Bulgaria and settled in Sweden in the 1910s. Armed with
Ink and colour on silk, hanging scroll this received wisdom, the young Nils Nessim, a true entrepreneur,
Inscribed and signed Leng Mei, with three seals of the artist soon developed a prospering business in Stockholm selling oriental
93.5 x 50 cm (36¾ x 19¾ in). carpets.
HK$200,000 - 400,000 After the opening of several branches, Nils Nessim started an
US$26,000 - 52,000 exclusive antiques shop in the best part of Stockholm. He travelled
numerous times to China and his interest in Chinese art and antiques
Provenance: formerly in the collection of Nils Nessim (1916-1974) became well-known in Sweden.

Chinese authorities to import antiquities into Sweden from China.

來源:瑞典古董商Nils Nessim (1916-1974) 舊藏 Nils Nessim的父親Jean Benschoam Nessim於1910年代從保加利亞移
