AN EMBROIDERED BLUE-GROUND 'DRAGON' ROBE, MANGPAO
19TH CENTURY
The blue ground is worked in couched gold thread on the front and back with
fve-clawed dragons confronting faming pearls amongst clouds, fre scrolls,
bats, cranes and other auspicious emblems. The lishui stripe at the hem is
tossed with the bajixiang, the Eight Buddhist Emblems.

The present lot may be compared with the blue-ground dragon robe from the
