                                                                                   The inscription on this rug indicates that it was
                                                                                   woven for the Palace of Great Benevolence
                                                                                   (Jingren gong). Built in 1420, Jingren gong was
                                                                                   the residence of Imperial concubines during
                                                                                   the Ming and Qing dynasties.
