The heavily-cast, hollow figure shown crouching, the eyes embellished Possibly the cover of a censer, the powerfully rendered beast shown
with turquoise inlay seated with mouth open in a roar with long, curly mane and tail, with an
2Ω in. (6.4 cm.) long inscription on the rim of the base, reading `guan yao' (official kiln)
