QI KUN (1901-1944)
Used the courtesy name Jingxi, sobriquet Jingxi jushi, studio name
Songya jingshe. A native of Beijing. First made the acquaintance of
Beijing painters through selling painting pigments. He was diligently
self-taught, and, influenced by the early Republic trend of following
Song and Yuan painting styles, he deliberately copied old paintings.
He was a member of the prestigious Pine and Wind Painting
Association, and a teacher at the influential painting institution Hu She.
His landscapes esteemed the Northern style; his compositions are
rigorous, his brushwork delicate, with appropriate dry and wet strokes.
His delicate line landscapes followed the Ming style, and reflected the
essence of Wang Hui. He also excelled in seal carving. Qi loved dogs,
and had the unusual habit of keeping more than ten dogs at his house.

祁崑（1901-1944）
字景西，號井西居士、松崖，齋號松崖精舍，北京人，一說為蒙古正
紅旗人。早年以鬻賣顏色為生，得識京城名家，刻勵自學，後入「松
風畫會」，並擔任「湖社」評議。受民初追蹤宋元之風的影響，專意
摹古臨古，尤喜北宗。所畫理法精嚴，筆墨精緻，枯潤合度，其工細
山水深得明人遺意。又精篆刻。性喜犬，於家中豢養十餘頭，被時人
目為奇癖。
