A qianjiang porcelain table screen
Cheng Ying (act. 1875-1908)
The plaque delicately enamelled with five sages admiring a painting
of bamboo under a pine tree, with a three line inscription, signed by
the artist, mounted in a wooden frame and with stand. The plaque:
25.3cm (9 7/8in) x 38cm (15in) (2).

Provenance
Reputedly collected by the vendor’s grandfather, who was a Methodist
missionary in China in the early 20th century, returning to Europe in the
1920s, and thence by descent.

A pair of large famille rose vases
With trumpet necks and iron-red and gilt, mythical beast handles,
the baluster bodies boldly enamelled in the famille rose palette with a
profusion of blooming flowers, including peonies and chrysanthemums,
the mouths and feet with decorative borders, the bases unglazed.
