A yellow-ground green and aubergine-enamelled
‘dragon’ saucer dish
Kangxi six-character mark and of the period
The interior with a central roundel enclosing an ascending and
descending dragon contesting a flaming pearl amidst flames and cloud
scrolls, the exterior with four clusters of fruiting grape vines, all on an
egg-yolk yellow ground.

An iron-red and underglaze-blue ‘dragon’ dish
Qianlong seal mark and of the period
The well enamelled with a writhing five-claw dragon on a wave
background, the exterior similarly decorated with nine dragons all on
a wave pattern, below a foliate band at the mouth rim. 18cm (7 1/8in)
diam.

A wucai ‘floral spray’ dish
17th century
Enamelled to the well with floral sprays surrounded with a ruyi-head
border, the interior mouth rim with a foliate scrolling meander, all
reserved against a variety of diaper patterns, the base with a typical
channelled foot rim. 33cm (13in) diam.

The present lot belongs a group of distinctive wares that are frequently
found in Indonesia and therefore seem to have been produced
primarily for a South-East Asian market. It is not clear whether they
were produced in Jingdezhen or in other Southern Chinese sites
such as the Zhangzhou kilns. For an example of this ware see C.A.
