This bottle shows Ye Zhongsan at his height of power of artistic output.
Whilst clearly borrowing from the style of Zhou Leyuan, Ye makes this
bottle subject his own. For a lengthy discussion of this period in his
output, see Hugh Moss, Victor Graham and Ka Bo Tsang, Treasury,
Vol. 4, Part 1, Inside Painted, Hong Kong, 2000, pp. 254-255, no.
524, as it relates to a another landscape bottle dated 1903.
For another crystal bottle see Bonhams, Hong Kong, 27 May 2012,
The Mary and George Bloch Collection, Part V, lot 157, depicting a
very similarly depicted landscape scene to one side (and a portrait on
the other).
