A SMALL GILT-BRONZE STANDING
FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA
TANG DYNASTY (AD 618-907)
The bodhisattva is shown standing in tribangha on a waisted lotus plinth with
stepped octagonal lower section, holding a willow branch in the raised right
hand and a kamandalu (`holy water’ bottle) pendent from the left hand, and
wearing a long bead necklace, and a tall crown. A pierced attachment tab
projects from the back of the head.
