The gin bottle was one of the earliest European forms made in
Chinese porcelain; a circa 1600 Portuguese armorial example is
in the British Museum and 17th century blue and white examples
are known. These bottles were particularly desirable in New
Spain and this vivid famille rose pattern is also known to have
been particularly desirable in Mexico.
