       Catalogue Note
The slender, graceful form of the present pair represents the extraordinary skill of the Kangxi period potters who were able
to successfully reinterpret the traditional curvilinear baluster form into a clean rectilinear format, a technical feat that left few
extant examples. A pair of vases of identical form but with different floral decoration from the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvain L.
Goldmuntz was sold in our Monaco rooms, 4th March 1990, lot 355. Another pair is illustrated in R. L. Hobson, Chinese Porcelain
and Wedgwood Pottery, with other Works of Ceramic Art, A Record of the Collection in the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight
formed by The First Viscount Leverhulme, London, 1928, pl. 52.
