A LARGE ‘CHICKEN-BONE’ JADE ‘MUSK-MALLOW’ WASHER
Ming Dynasty
Finely and deeply hollowed in the form of a large bloom with thick
walls, issuing leafy branches bearing musk-mallow blossoms and
attendant buds in openwork, skilfully carved from an opaque stone of
creamy white tone mottled with dark brown inclusions, wood stand.

明 雞骨玉纏枝秋葵洗

玉質雞骨色，局部有褐斑。器呈秋葵花式，內壁琢五瓣秋葵，中心花
蕊高突。外壁鏤雕花枝、葉及小花朵作為器柄與圈足，枝葉相連纏
繞，形態各異，葉脈分明，造型自然，雕工犀利，具有鮮明的明代玉
雕特徵，為玉器之上品。
北京故宮博物院藏兩件明代之例可資參考，其形制與此器相類，見
《故宮博物院藏品大系：玉器編7：明》，北京，2011年，頁212及
215，圖版200及203。另參考一件明代桃形玉筆洗，其枝葉雕刻風格
可與此器作比較，見同上，頁197，圖版189。
