Buddhist emblems, the base with a blue fower
                                             mark

This rare form emulates English silver examples
that were fashionable between about 1680 and
1720, their distinctive rims made to hold wine
glass bases so their bowls could cool in ice. The
bowls were named after an eccentric Scot, Lord
Monteith, who wore his cloak hem notched in this
                                             fashion.
