ANONMYOUS The theme of noan (geese and reeds) has
Tiger and Magpie a double meaning in Korean. The first
Joseon dynasty (1392-1910), 19th century character no can be interpreted either as
Hanging scroll, ink and color on paper; folk “reed” or “old” while the second character an
painting of a tiger beneath a magpie in a pine can mean either “reed” or “comfort”; thus,
tree, unsigned this subject can be viewed as a wish for a
comfortable life in old age.
