A GROUP OF FIVE JADE AND HARDSTONE CARVINGS
The first an oval greenish-white jade cup carved as a lotus leaf rising
amid the deeply undercut stems of lotus flowers and leaves, with
attached reticulated wood display stand; the second a greenish-white
jade rectangular jade belt buckle, the russet-stained face carved in
high relief as a pair of dragons facing a flaming pearl, the reverse
showing remains of a button and hook that are no longer preserved;
the third a russet-stained archaistic jade rhyton cup of zoomorphic
shape with altered surfaces; the fourth a moss agate shallow bowl
shaped as a lotus leaf supporting a frog and snail as well as another
crustacean carved from an opaque straw colored vein in the matrix
(chipped); the fifth a recumbent ox with transverse drill hole through
the snout carved from a hematite pebble (deep hairline fissures).

A CARVED CORAL FIGURE OF GUANYIN
Of Chinese or Japanese manufacture, the tallest fork of the branch
worked to depict the bodhisattva below a parrot suspending mala
beads in front of the ovoid nimbus reversing her high chignon,
surrounded by the other forks rendered as her attendants Xiao
Longnu and Shancai Tongzi, all supported by a writhing sinuous
dragon.
