A pieced hongmu mid-size floor screen with
dragon decoration
Late Qing/Republic period
Constructed from multiple pieces that form a reticulated crown,
two narrow side walls set at an angle to the wide central wall and
a conforming base, the dragons of various shapes chasing flaming
pearls amid cloud scrolls all carved in high relief filling the floating
panels set into the walls, along the front of the base and repeating in
reticulated form across the crown.

A hongmu horseshoe back arm chair
Late Qing/Republic period
The three section top rail supported by a two-panel backsplat, the
upper section carved with a network of fan-shaped lozenges and
c-comma patterns over a plain raised panel and shaped apron flanked
by tubular back rails, s-shaped side posts and elegant shaped front
posts set back under the hand rests and joined to a hard paneled seat,
the curvilinear beaded apron and u-shaped spandrels set between
splayed squared-off tubular supports and stepped box stretchers.
