17th century WARES FIGURE OF BUDAI
The pear-shaped vase with incised 17th/18th Century Ming Dynasty
decoration of stylised phoenix flying amidst Comprising: a square box and cover, Modelled in a reclining pose, wearing a
lotus scroll, in between two bands of lappets finely incised to the cover with a writhing voluminous robe loosely tied below the waist
at the foot and the waisted neck, the exterior dragon; a libation cup relief decorated with and falling open revealing a bare chest and
covered in a lustrous yellow glaze, the a stag, crane, tiger and dragon amongst ample belly, holding a string of prayer beads
recessed base with an underglaze blue four- blossoming prunus; a circular box and cover in his right hand, covered overall in a greyish-
character mark between double lines. with moulded prunus blossom within ribbed green glaze, wood stand. 11.4cm (4 1/2in)
19cm (7 1/2in) high bands; and three cups of graduating size. high (2).
The libation cup: 10.8cm (4 12in) wide (8).
