Flowering Tree’, ‘Landscape After Huang
Gongwang’ and ‘Mynah Birds on Branches’
Ink and colour on silk. The first, bearing
436 a spurious signature reading Lu Shidao
(1510-1573); the second, bearing a spurious
signature reading Qian Weicheng (1720-
1772), both framed and glazed; the third,
bearing a spurious signature reading Yaohua
Daoren, mounted as hanging scroll, with
fitted box; the fourth, painted on paper,
folding fan leaf, framed and glazed.
The largest: 97cm (38 1/8in) high x 33.5cm
(13 1/4in) wide (5).

Mrs Gret Hasler, Winterthur, Switzerland,
and thence by descent
In 1937, a trip to New York, Chicago and
Washington was the starting point for Mrs
Gret Hasler’s interest in Chinese art. This
she continued until the Second World War
by acquiring objects from dealers in Paris,
Sweden and New York.
