Compare with a related dish, Liao dynasty,
illustrated in Qidan wangchao: Neimenggu
Liaodai wenwu jinghua (The Dynasty of Khitan:
Selected Cultural Relics of Liao Dynasty
Unearthed in Inner Mongolia), Beijing, 2002,
p.190.
A wine cup was usually served on a cup
stand, jiutai酒臺 during the Song and Yuan
dynasties. By the Ming dynasty it appears
that cup stands were shorter in height; for
a related discussion, see Z.S.Yang, Shehua
zhise: Song Yuan Ming jinyinqi yanjiu (The
Study of Gold and Silver Wares of Song, Yuan
Ming Dynasties), Beijing, 2011, vol.3, pp.6-37.
