A RARE LARGE MING-STYLE BLUE AND WHITE MOONFLASK,
BIANHU
YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE
AND OF THE PERIOD (1725-1735)
The vessel is decorated to each convex side of the fattened circular body with
a network of stylised foral scrolls, cleverly highlighted with simulated heaping
and piling efect, all within a narrow scroll border. The shoulders are applied
with a pair of elegant strap handles, each decorated with meandering foliage
bearing fowers, terminating in ruyi heads, all below the 'garlic' neck painted
with several horizontal bands of foral scrolls.
