A spinAch-green jAde ‘chilong’ plAin seAl
18th/19th century
The dark green jade rectangular seal surmounted by a chilong dragon
with its smiling head resting on its long slender body wrapped above
the squarely-placed front paws and the bifurcated tail sweeping under
the right back leg to reach its shoulder, the underside uncarved.

Carved as a boy beating a cymbal and holding a string of cash beside
a twin-handled vase with bamboo form exterior, a small boy seated
at his side, the stone of pale green tone with light mottling and russet
veining, wood stand.

The animated beast modelled with the head turned to the left, open
mouthed, the tail flicked up over the haunches, the upper body incised
