A near pair of Canton famille rose vases
19th century
Each decorated on either side of the oviform body with a moulded
rectangular shaped panel enclosing narrative scenes, reserved on a
white ground enamelled with birds, fruit and flowers, the neck moulded
to resemble a softly-folded cloth held together by a ribbon, the applied
handles shaped as colourful butterflies.

A large Canton famille rose ‘Outlaws of the Marsh’
baluster vase
19th century
The vase enamelled with four large rectangular panels containing
fifty-four bandits from the novel 水滸傳 Shuihu Zhuan, all reserved
on a typical white ground with fruit and flowers, the Eight Buddhist
Emblems and phoenix, the neck flanked with stylised dragon handles,
wood stand.
