CRYSTAL
18TH-19TH CENTURY The Professor Marcel Van Eyck Collection of Chinese snuf bottles
(1910-1933), acquired in 1965.
The group comprises: a lapis lazuli bottle carved to each side with magpies
on prunus branches, the carver skilfully utilising the natural inclusions; a 清十八/十九世紀 青金石,瑪瑙及髮晶鼻煙壺一組三件
‘macaroni’ agate bottle; and a ‘hair crystal’ bottle.

AN INSIDE-PAINTED CRYSTAL SNUFF BOTTLE
20TH CENTURY
The bottle is decorated with two scholars in a pavilion in a mountainous and
rocky, river landscape. The reverse is inscribed with a poetic inscription from
Junchen Dui, a conversation between Emperor Tang Taizong (reigned 627-
650) and his favourite minister Xu Jingzong, dated summer of the yiyou year,
signed Zhou Leyuan, with a seal.
