A WHITE, GREY AND RUSSET JADE ‘ZHONG KUI AND DEMON’
CARVING
18TH CENTURY
The group is carved to depict Zhong Kui in a crouched position with fnely
carved facial features and delicately incised beard, confronting a ferce demon
clambering below him. The stone is of a mottled white tone with dark grey
inclusions and areas of concentrated russet.

A WHITE JADE VASE AND COVER
20TH CENTURY
The vase is of fattened baluster form, with two mask handles with loose rings.
One side is carved and pierced with a bird perched on a fowering branch and
rocks beside a linked chain. The cover is surmounted by a bird. The stone is of
an even white tone with a few milky-white inclusions.
