OF A SPINY LOBSTER
Meiji era (1868-1912),
248 late 19th/early 20th century
The silver body formed from individually cast,
hammered and carved sections crafted to
resemble a lobster’s shell with finely chiselled
details, assembled with fully articulated joints
to allow lifelike mobility; unsigned.
39cm (15 3/8in) long with distended
antennae.

probably mid 20th century
Comprising a semi (cicada), a kabutomushi
(rhinoceros beetle), a kuwagatamushi
(stag beetle), a partially articulated mukade
(centipede), and a partially articulated tonbo
(dragonfly), each unsigned; with a plain wood
storage box. The smallest: 6cm (2 3/8in) long,
the largest: 15cm (5 7/8in) long. (2).
