                                    G eorges Dubail (1845-1932) went to China for the frst
                                    time in 1876. He spent two years working for the Minister
                                    Plenipotentiary in Beijing before coming back to France,
                                    where he was an employee of the Orient and Indochina
                                    Sub-Directorate. In 1893, he was once again posted to the
                                    Consulate in Shanghai, then in 1897 he took the direction of
                                    the  Legation  in  Beijing  with  the  mission  of  supervising  the
                                    works of the railway line Longzhou-Nanning and Beijing-
                                    Hankou. In 1898, he travelled across the world to South
                                    America  then  back  to  Asia  in  Tokyo  then  Beijing  in  1902.
                                    Dubail fnished his diplomatic career in Pekin as Minister
                                    Plenipotentiary. He came back to France in 1906 bringing
                                    along Chinese and Japanese works of art he had always lived
                                    with and which stayed in the family until today. During his
                                    career, Dubail was also committed to strengthen relationships
                                    between France and China and thus took part in the creation
         Georges Dubail (1845-1932).  of  the  Franco-Chinese  Friendship  Association  (Association  Georges Dubail in his house, Paris, in
                                    Amicale franco-chinoise) in 1907 in Paris, which welcomed  the 1910s.
                                    Chinese  students  such  as  Deng  Xiaoping  or  Nie  Rongzhen
                                    who then became Chinese communist party leaders.

                                    喬治呂班(1845-1932)於1876年首次赴華。他隨全權公使於北京工作
                                    兩年,後返法國任命遠東與印度支那局。1893年,他被派駐中國任
                                    職駐沪總領事館。1897年,他接替署理駐北京公使館,負責實施龍
                                    州-南寧及北京-漢口鐵路修建工作。1898年,他被派至南美及東京,
                                    隨後於1902年返回北京,後擔任北京全權公使。1906年,他返回故
                                    鄉法國並帶回一直珍藏的中國及日本藝術品。在呂班的外交職業生
                                    涯中,他一直大力支持中法關係。1907年,他參與創建了法中協會,
                                    該協會曾接待了鄧小平、聂荣臻等第一批留法學生。

                repute.
                This extremely rare album is a important chronicle of the Beijing–
                Hankow railway construction in China led by the Belgian engineer
                Jean Jadot (1862-1932) during 1899-1905.
