     A PAIR OF DOUCAI FLOWER POTS

     QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

     Each is sturdily potted with rounded sides supported on a slighly

     splayed foot, rising to a wide flaring rim, enamelled on the

     exterior with a broad band of ruyi lappets enclosing lotus scrolls,

     above a band of ridge-like pattern. The foot is encircled by ruyi-

     heads, above a raised band enamelled in green. The mouth rim is

     decorated on the exterior with a chevron band enclosing florettes,

     the interior with a band of alternating red and green ruyi-heads.
