    A PAIR OF CLOISONNE ENAMEL VASES,
    FANGGU

    QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

    Each vase is cast of archaistic fanggu form with gilt flanges on the

    corners, decorated around the bulging mid-section with stylised

    taotie masks. The lower and upper sections are similarly decorated

    with hanging plantain leaves dividing further lotus sprays borne on

    tendrils. The interior of the mouth is further decorated with four

    lotus sprays and inset with a metal liner.
