           A fisherman stands on a rocky outcrop thoughtfully smoking a pipe,
           below a boy wading in the river looks up from his large net, signed to
           base.

           Meiji era, 19th century
           Constructed in parts as a two-tier dwelling with figures within and
           leading to a stepped terrace, with further figures beside the rocky
           water edge and flanked by lantern and gnarled pine tree, all attached
           to a shaped wood base.

           The rectangular case with lift off cover and inlaid with mother-of-pearl
           and stained ivory with a variety of insects, one side with a gold-lacquer
           stem of bamboo.
