the smoothly polished stone of a greyish-celadon tone with
variegated black and russet patches and inclusions, mounted
on a beaded lotus base atop a waisted square rockwork plinth
in gilt-bronze
overall 40.5 cm, 16 in.

Impressive for its large and finely cast stand in the form of
mountain peaks, large jade boulders left uncarved and with
such elaborate stands are highly unusual. Two boulders of
similar irregular shape were sold at Christie’s New York, the
first, 15th September 2009, lot 122, and the second, 15th
September 2011, lot 1304.
